Adolescence is the transitional period from childhood to young adulthood. Now more than ever children are faced with complex problems and issues that have a direct impact on their health. It is important to understand the specific needs of this age group, which are often affected by changes in environment and society. At The McCuiston Group, we begin to prepare children for adulthood, by conducting most of the visit separate from parents, this means check-ups from 12-22 are usually done with patients only for the majority of the visit. This gives your child the opportunity to have some control over their bodies and to learn to empower themselves when their health is involved. If you prefer not to have your child alone in the exam room, please share this information with the front desk and clinical staff when you arrive in the office.
